Located beneath the iconic Story Bridge, Stanley is one of Brisbane’s most celebrated dining destinations — where modern Cantonese cuisine meets world-class hospitality.
We currently have an opportunity for either a Sommelier or Head Sommelier to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who lives and breathes wine, loves creating memorable guest experiences, and thrives in a fast-paced premium dining environment.
As Sommelier, you will work closely with our leadership team to deliver an exceptional guest experience across service. This role requires someone highly organised, detail-oriented, and proactive, with the ability to confidently manage wine ordering, maintain stock control, and stay on top of cellar operations in a fast-paced environment. You’ll guide guests through our wine list, drive beverage sales, and utilise multiple systems and technology platforms to support seamless service while helping shape the overall experience.
Key responsibilities include:
- Curating memorable wine and beverage experiences for guests
- Providing confident wine recommendations and pairings
- Maintaining and managing wine stock, storage, and presentation
- Assisting with wine list development and supplier relationships
- Training and mentoring floor staff on wine knowledge and service standards
- Delivering exceptional guest engagement and premium table service
- Supporting the team during busy periods to run a section
What we are looking for:
- Previous Sommelier experience with large wine lists
- Strong knowledge of local and international wines
- WSET qualifications or equivalent highly regarded
- Exceptional communication and guest engagement skills
- Passion for hospitality and creating elevated dining experiences
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays
- Confident using workplace software and digital systems
