Maintenance Carpenter

Set beneath the iconic Story Bridge, Howard Smith Wharves has grown from the multi award-winning Felons Brewery into a buzzing destination, now home to 13 restaurants, cafés, bars, event spaces, and a hotel—and we're still growing.

We're on the lookout for a hands-on and reliable Maintenance & Construction Technician to join our team and help keep our precinct running at its best.

In this role, you'll carry out day-to-day maintenance, repairs, and construction works across the precinct, supporting safe, compliant, and well-presented assets while working within live hospitality, transport, and public settings. You'll be part of a hands-on team delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Undertake hands-on maintenance, repair, and minor construction works across buildings, structures, public spaces, and back-of-house areas
• Perform preventative and reactive maintenance in line with schedules and work orders, including general trade works such as carpentry, building repairs, and fit-for-purpose modifications
• Support marine and waterfront asset upkeep, including wharf decks, fendering, handrails, and access infrastructure
• Identify, report, and rectify defects and hazards, working safely in live operational environments to minimise disruption to venues, events, and the public
• Comply with WHS, marine safety, environmental, and heritage requirements, and use tools, plant, and equipment safely and correctly

What we are looking for:

• Relevant trade qualification (e.g. Carpentry, Building, Mechanical, or similar)
• Demonstrated hands-on experience in maintenance and construction environments
• Strong practical skills and ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve on site
• Understanding of WHS requirements in construction and maintenance settings
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
• Good communication and time management skills
